Having >20 , talented horses & ponies in our lesson program allows us to match the horse to the rider's riding ability.
Our Lesson Program We do an assessment (1st lesson) of your riding ability on one of our beginner horses to determine what level you ride at (beginner, novice, intermediate or advanced?).
Small arena: (40 min -1 hr. lesson) for a $40 daily group lesson. (or book your weekly time spot, for the entire month for only $35 per lesson) If you are a complete beginner, you will get a PRIVATE lesson on a beginner horse. Once you have steering control ,can stop, and are comfortable riding at a trot, you will ride with up to 3 riders in the small arena (1:3 instructor ratio). You will learn to ride, trot poles & x's, canter, play games, & do various riding exercises.
Large arena (or Large outside ring): (1 hr lesson) for a $40 daily group lesson. (or book your weekly time spot, for the entire month for only $35 per lesson) We have already deemed that you have control of your horse, can trot, canter, & trot a cross-rail. The lesson may have up to 6 riders in the arena. (1:6 instructor ratio). The lesson usually involves flatwork, cantering, and doing some jumping* courses. *trotting or cantering fences, doing cross-rails or vertical fences, and the height of the fence is based on the rider's ability and the rider's choice of horse/pony.
Tacking, Untacking, Grooming, Leading & Learning how to handle your horse are NOT part of your paid lesson (riding time). YOU GET A FULL LESSON!!! Just show up earlier or stay later (before or after your lesson), & we'll gladly show you these basic horse skills.
Come on out, and we will show you around. Call (905) 983-9362 for more information.
Homestead Hills has a large number of Families riding together! It is not uncommon, to have a parent (mother or father), decide to take up riding themselves, once they've watched their child in our riding program. It's a great sport that the family can participate in together!
